"The Anderson Center is a little miracle at the river's edge."
- Marc Nieson, Screenwriter, Pennsylvania

The Anderson Center holds the distinction of being the only center of its kind in the Upper Midwest and one of the very few in the United States that brings together such a varied group of people - painters, archaeologists, sculptors, writers, historians, dancers, photographers, printmakers, composers, translators, and anthropologists - from throughout the United States and abroad.
Each year, from May through October, the Center makes available private time and space to some 45 artists, writers, and scholars from the United States and abroad. Residencies, which include meals and lodging at the Center, are for two weeks to one month, during which time resident-fellows are expected to work on a clearly defined project and to make a substantive contribution to the community in the form of a talk, class, or performance of their work. Virtually every school, library, senior citizen center, correctional institution, and cultural organization in the Greater Red Wing area benefits each year from this important program of the Anderson Center.
Residents of the Anderson Center have come from 35 different states and more than 20 countries, including Australia, Egypt, Estonia, China, Germany, Denmark, Argentina, Uganda, Norway, Italy, New Zealand, India, Korea, England, Canada, Mexico, Georgia, Russia, Israel, Croatia, Kenya and the Netherlands.
The Center currently sponsors Artist Exchange Programs with: Kunstlerhaus in Salzburg, Austria, and in cooperation with the Red Wing Sister Cities Commission, the artist communities of Quzhou, China. The Center also has scholarship programs with: the Program in Creative Writing/University of Minnesota and Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Washington.
Attention Emerging Artists and Writers from New York City and Minnesota:
