SUMMARY:Exhibition: Art & Science
DESCRIPTION:The Anderson Center presents Art and Science, a group exhibition in the Main Gallery featuring work from regional artists, scientists, and those who blur the boundaries between the two. The exhibition opens June 27 and runs through August 8, 2020. A free artist reception will take place Friday, July 17 from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.\nArtistic work and scientific research share a starting place of curiosity and close observation. Art and Science includes a spectrum of images, ranging from artistic interpretations of nature to photographs taken for biological research to compositions generated by machine learning. Art and Science features work by Eric Anderson, John P. Anderson, Steve Anderson, Caitlin Potter, Areca Roe, Sarita Zaleha, Chad Zirbel, Cedar Creek: Eyes on the Wild, and the University Imaging Centers at the University of Minnesota.\nExhibition curator Stephanie Rogers shares, “I grew up visiting my grandpa’s biology lab and classroom every summer, and was fascinated by the macro lenses and microscopes he used to study honeybees. There is so much beauty in natural forms and scientific research, and I’m excited to share work by this talented group of people with visitors this summer.”\nHandicapped accessible and free to the public, the Main Gallery at the Anderson Center is open Wednesday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with extended hours on Thursdays until 7 p.m. This exhibit is made possible by the voters of Minnesota through a Minnesota State Arts Board Operating Support grant, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.\n\nFeatured image by John P.
