SUMMARY:Alebrijes Workshop
DESCRIPTION:Join artists Edgar Israel Camargo Reyes and Alberto Moreno Fernández for a hands-on workshop. Join them as they work to create larger-than-life alebrijes with paint and papier mache. This event is presented in partnership with the Minnesota Latino Museum. This event is FREE and recommended for ages 8 and up. Drop-in when you can and stay for however long you like on Saturday, April 26. The workshop runs from noon – 4 p.m. and will be presented in English and Spanish.\nAn alebrije is an imaginary creature that possesses elements from different animals. They originated in the 1930s from the vivid dreams of Mexico City artist Pedro Linares. You may have seen them in the 2017 Disney/Pixar film “Coco,” which increased their exposure in the United States.\nVenue and Accessibility\nThis workshop will be held in the Anderson Center’s North Studios. The studios are at-grade and movable ramps make them fully wheelchair accessible. Please note: while there are bathrooms on other parts of the property, there are not bathrooms available in the North Studios. ASL interpreters or translators for a language other than English or Spanish are available upon request.
