Allegra Lockstadt’s art-making practice focuses on plants, nature, and landscapes, and exploring how individuals and communities interface and relate to the natural world. Specifically, she is interested in exploring the balance of viewing nature as something that is visible, intentional, and direct, and as something that may be ignored, incidental, or even mundane. In these contexts, she seeks to create works and spaces for sacred pauses, in which she asks viewers to slow down, observe nature, and examine their awareness and relationship to the natural world.
During her residency, Allegra lead a workshop in making watercolor paints with local honey and other ingredients in partnership with Lake City Area Arts Association.
