Amara Okolo’s writing focuses on the human experience, of life’s joys and tragedies. Her interests are about people in their simple elements and interactions with the world; their joys, loves and the loss of it, friendships, relationships, sorrows, pain, traumas, homesickness, and successes. She essentially writes about the everyday mundane but with the exceptional that occur in moments: falling in love, losing a loved one, accepting a child for who they are. Her aim is to write stories to show those exceptionalities as neutral, and to highlight the lights of living in a world of less or more.
During her residency, Amara gave a reading of her work to the residents of Tinta Wita Tipi.
