Sydney Swanson

Sydney Swanson is a Rochester-based dance artist, photographer, and healing practitioner whose practice is focused on site-specific dance filmmaking. Sydney’s work juxtaposes her creative impetus and the sites she inhabits, combining largely improvisational movement with the energy of the space/nature, innovative editing, and unique framing to create unexpected dance film worlds.

At the Anderson Center, Sydney deepened her creative practice and working on movement inspired by, and in response to, the wide variety of historic, interior and natural spaces across the Tower View campus and its sculpture garden.
