Heartland, Heartwork Book Launch Party

Join Springboard for the Arts, Blandin Foundation, and Anderson Center as we celebrate the launch of Heartland, Heartwork: A Field Guide to Place and Possibility for Rural Leaders. This comprehensive field guide is designed to empower rural leaders in planning and executing effective place-based projects centered in arts, culture and creativity. Join us for a conversation with rural creative leaders about place-based work, and receive a free copy of the book to take home!

We’ll share drinks, snacks, and conversation beginning with a 4:30 p.m. social hour. The program, including hearing from some of the contributors, begins at 5:30 p.m. Registration is requested at Springboardforthearts.org/events/heartland-heartwork-book-tour-creative-arts-center/  There is no cost to attend.

Heartland, Heartwork features case studies from over 30 communities across Minnesota (including the Anderson Center’s work with Seitu Jones in Red Wing). With original essays from rural creative leaders, it offers valuable insights and practical tools for fostering creative leadership in rural areas.

“Place-based work starts with being grounded in our personal values and asking ourselves critical questions about our connection to place and our intentions for impact,” says Michele Anderson, Rural Director at Springboard, who wrote and edited the Field Guide. “Getting clear on what drives us as individuals, and knowing our own capacity and limitations, is a unique focus of this book.”

Venue and Accessibility Information

The Tower View Barn event space is accessed via an ADA compliant, interior ramp. There are handicap parking spaces available. While there is ample parking on the Anderson Center grounds, immediately adjacent parking is limited. If you do not need accessible parking, consider parking in the Anderson Center West Lot near the sculpture garden and enjoying the stroll through the beautiful Tower View Historic Site.

This event features speakers who will be amplified with microphones. They will also share images. ASL interpretation is available upon request at least two weeks before the event.

Seating is padded, armless chairs that are able to be moved to different configurations. Attendees in wheelchairs may request to have a staff member move any chair out of the way and sit in any location. There will be ADA compliant tables and seating for the social hour, as well as high-top cocktail tables and chairs.

If you have questions about the accessibility of Anderson Center facilities or programs, please contact us! info@andersoncenter.org or 651-388-2009.
