Mixed Media
Natori Pittman is an independent artist specializing in traditional practices. When creating they make use of many different mediums, favoring pen, ink and watercolor. They create works that deal with Identity- being a black non-binary person in the current political climate, their art is about the struggles we face. Things like mental illness, poverty and violence. Pittman says “The relationship between religion and identity is also interesting to me, as living in the Midwest has instilled thoughts that the two can’t coexist”. Their creations lean on religious iconography and the connotations of these symbols with the inclusion of black and brown bodies.
Pittman invited art students from Tower View Alternative High School to their workspace in the Granary print studio for a workshop.
