Emily Fridlund spent her residency working on two fiction pieces: the first was a collection of stories, Expecting. The characters in each story negotiate the borderland between desire and action, between thought and language. The second project, The Familiar, examines the thorny relationship between a mother and her teenage son.
She has published two books: History of Wolves: A Novel (2017), which was nominated for the Booker Prize, and Catapult: Stories.
