Amir Khadar is a Sierra Leonean-American artist from Minneapolis, MN. Their work explores ancestry, mythology, justice, and dreaming through aBlack diasporic and queer lens. Amir’s practice engages drawing, weaving, quilting, beadwork, digital art, and design to build landscapes and stories that envision pre- and post-colonial worlds where ritual, ancestral wisdom, camaraderie, and justice supersede colonial, carceral, and imperial logic. Their work has been exhibited nationally and internationally, including at the Oakland Museum of California, the Anacostia Community Museum, Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens, and the London School of Economics. Amir’s practice also engages art as a liberatory force in collaborative projects.
