In her work, Chitsazan explores the delicate space between real and unreal. Through the inherited metaphorical aspect of Iranian background and the imperialist Western influences on our modern culture, she has created a visual language that references personal archives while exploring experiences of displacement, and in-betweenness, identity fragmentation, and the fluidity of reality. Through theatrical lighting, layers of paint, and symbolic elements like mirrors and frames, she creates portals between realities, investigating the experience of oscillating between two worlds as a recent immigrant. Within these spaces, figures—sometimes solitary, sometimes clustered—appear in compositions that feel both familiar and enigmatic.
