Mimi Lok the author of Last Of Her Name, a story collection that illuminates the experiences of diasporic women. It won the 2020 PEN/Robert W. Bingham Prize and a California Book Award. Raised in the UK, lived and worked in China as a visual artist, writer, and educator before moving to California. Her writing explores belonging and displacement—internal and external, emotional and physical—and its inherent yearnings, precariousness, and strange dimensional fusions.
At Anderson, Mimi did finishing edits for a new novel, working on notes focusing on pacing, character, and tension. During her residency she offered a reading and discussion with elders at Tinta Wita Tipi Senior Living.
