Sarah Fox is a “DES daughter,” one whose mother was given the drug Diethylstilbestrol (DES) while pregnant. During the residency, she worked with her research materials and manuscript notes toward the composition of a book-length documentary poetics project. The poems were incorporated into a 2016 poetry book, First Flags, published by Coffee House Press. Her earlier work, Because Why, was published in 2006 by Coffee House Press. She has received fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Bush Foundation, and the Minnesota State Arts Board.
