Ting Wang-Hedges is a graphic designer; her job is to construct visuals to inform, inspire, and captivate. She is a typography lover; almost all her studio art practices are heavily infused with typography. Wang’s creative practice revolves around two main interests. One focus is the study of typography. Serendipity and her background are the keys to her creative process. She never wastes opportunities to use different methods, materials, and processes to create. Another focus is the study of cross-culture design. Since 2018, Wang’s creative research has yielded twenty international design awards, seven international publications, and thirty-one national juried exhibitions.
Wang’s residency project aims to design and produce a set of 10 uncommon Chinese characters as movable wood type, utilizing typography research from Chinese woodblock printed literature spanning the 15th to early 20thcenturies. She will give an artist talk in partnership with Lake City Area Arts Association.
