A blanket is a stopped moment in time. Richard Kagigebi makes appliquéd mural blankets where a story is being told. He begins with a single idea; thinks about who this will go to – what can be provided through the blanket in order for this person to have a good life? The design may shift while working, making him wait until he knows what changes are needed. Blankets are a core element in Ojibwe cultural life. Why does he do what he does?
