Marianne Boruch has published 11 books of poems: Bestiary Dark (2021), The Anti-Grief (2019), Eventually One Dreams the Real Thing (2016), Cadaver, Speak (2014), The Book of Hours (2011), a Kingsley Tufts Poetry Award winner, published by Copper Canyon Press; View from the Gazebo (1985) and Grace Fallen From (1985) published by Wesleyan University Press; Moss Burning (1993), A Stick that Breaks and Breaks (1997), and Poems: New & Selected (1004) Oberlin College Press; and, Ghost and Oar (chapbook, 2007) Red Dragonfly Press.
She has also published two memoirs: The Glimpse Traveler (Indiana University Press, 2011) and The Figure Going Imaginary–Poetry/ Life Drawing/ The Cadaver Lab–A Year in Pieces (Copper Canyon Press, 2025), and four books of essays: Poetry’s Old Air (University of Michigan Press 1995), In the Blue Pharmacy (Trinity University Press 2005), The Little Death of Self: Nine Essays toward Poetry (University of Michigan Press, 2017), and Sing by the Burying Ground: Essays (Northwestern University Press 2024)
Her works have appeared in The American Poetry Review, London Review of Books, Narrative, The New York Review of Books, The New Yorker, Poetry, and The Best American Poetry, and have received Pushcart Prizes. She has had residencies at the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center, Yaddo, MacDowell, the American Academy in Rome, Djerassi, and two national parks, Denali and Isle Royale. A 2019 Fulbright Senior Lecturer at the University of Canberra, Australia, and a 2012 Fulbright Professor at the University of Edinburgh, she founded Purdue University’s MFA in 1987. She became Professor Emeritus at Purdue University in 2018.

Boruch has earned fellowships from the Rockefeller Foundation’s Bellagio Center, the John Simon Guggenheim Foundation, and the National Endowment for the Arts.
