Literature – Non-fiction
Robbin Légère Henderson resumes her early dedication to drawing and text, after years of practice as a painter in oil and watercolor. She finds scratchboard an unceasingly engrossing medium. With a degree in English Literature, followed by art school, then years of writing as director and curator for community and artist-run galleries, she began her exploration of graphic narrative to meld both skills, resulting in the 2017 publication, “Immigrant Girl, Radical Woman.” Her work addresses social justice and environmental issues, sometime obliquely, always consciously. Graphic narrative suits her desire to tell stories and those she hopes to hear and see.
During her residency, Henderson worked on a graphic narrative based on her father’s oral history and FBI file. Henderson also lead an activity for children at the Minnesota Children’s Book Festival at the Anderson Center.
